Mike began his musical journey back in the late 60's with his first guitar, a Sears Silvertone Deluxe and a $2 harmonica.  He was a founding member and lead singer for The Only Hope, a rock and roll cover band when he was in the 9th grade and they actually shared the stage with Pete Woodman's band .  Music had to wait a while though as he pursued his degree from  Ferris State University and actually represented FSU twice at the National Swimming and diving championships(go figure).
While at Ferris he had opportunity to see Muddy Waters perform up close and personal with the great Jerry Portnoy occupying the 'harp chair' in Muddy's band.  Wow!!  He was hooked on the blues and blues harp from that moment forward.   While being the frontman in a blues band was still a ways off, Mike began performing in coffehouses, college venues and private affairs sharing his own brand of acoustic blues.  His songwriting ventured into other acoustic stylings as well including soft rock and folk, some of which he shares on his debut cd, "Wilbur's Blues".
Mike created and was the frontman for the Catch & Release Blues Band as it's lead vocalist and harmonica player and added "blues uke" to his repitoire.  That's right, "blues uke"!!
He recently left the band to pursue solo endeavors and perform in some incredible venues like Nancy Whiskeys in Detroit and The Village Inn in Gambier, OH and Andyman's Treehouse in Columbus as well as the dust up to the Bean Blossom Blues Festival in Beanblossom, IN.  He has been called on stage to play harp for Cathy 'Diva' Davis(nominated as female vocalist by the Detroit Music Society), Northbound 75(featuring Cee Cee Collins) and with such diverse bands as Winter/Sessions (rootsgrass-bluegrass) and Band Project (comtemporary rock).  But his focus is on his acoustic work where he features not only his harp style, but the unique sounds of his 'blues uke' and finger-style guitar on his Larrivee acoustic to give his audiences a back porch, whiskey sippin' dose of Delta blues.  Nothin' fancy here, just the real deal!
